AIRCRAFT QUALITY PLATE
TIMET plate is a flat rolled product with thickness equal to or greater than 3/16 inches (4.7 mm). TIMET plate
can be supplied to thickness of 4 inches (102 mm) and occasionally more, and lengths up to 600 inches
(15240 mm) have been produced. The actual maximum length, width, or thickness of a plate will depend on
grade, specification, ingot weight, and manufacturing considerations.
TIMET provides the highest quality plate to any aerospace grade or specifications; however, TIMET can, and
often does supply material to much tighter tolerances upon request. For instances, plate form TIMET can be
precision-ground to provide thickness tolerances as tight as ±0.003 inches per foot (0.46 mm per meter)
and 1/8 inches (3.2 mm) overall can be produced on one of TIMET's two custom-designed vacuum creep
flatteners.
TIMET plate is normally supplied with a pickled surface, but can also be produced with a ground or grit-blasted
surface.
INDUSTRIAL QUALITY PLATE

more, and lengths up to 600 inches (15240 mm) have been produced. The actual maximum length, width, or
thickness of a plate will depend on grade, specification, ingot weight, and manufacturing considerations.
TIMET provides the highest quality plate to both aerospace and industrial quality grades. TIMET industrial
plate, specified as CodeRoll, is guaranteed to meet boiler code specifications. Dimensional tolerances can be
ordered to AMS 2242, AISI, Mil-T-9046, ASTM B-265, or Federal Standard 48; however, TIMET can, and often
does supply material to much tighter tolerances upon request. For instance, plate from TIMET can be precision-ground
to provide thickness tolerances as tight as ± 0.003 inches (0.076 mm), or even better upon request for some
special requirements! Also, stress-free plate with a special flatness of 0.060 inches per foot
(0.46 mm per meter) and 1/8 inches (3.2 mm) overall can be produced on one of TIMET's two custom-designed
vacuum creep flatteners.
